What Is A Webinar Anyway?
A webinar (web + seminar) is a great way to learn from experts without having to travel. With just a phone and a computer, anyone can participate in these events. The webinars combine three primary methods of communication: phone, online presentation, and a chat window for typing questions. As the webinar technology becomes more sophisticated, there are continually more methods of interactive techniques being added: such as ability to 'raise your hand' for a question, vote on issues, utilize a 'white board' on which to draw, and so forth.
How do I participate?
- About five to ten minutes prior to the event time, follow instructions from the webinar hyperlink to connect to the online presentation.
- Call the teleconference number to listen to the moderator/presenter.
- As the webinar begins, the moderator will explain a few 'housekeeping' items, such as how to utilize interactive tools that are enabled for your voluntary participation. Then the presenter will begin his presentation, usually supported with a PowerPoint presentation, and all that is required from here out is your attention!
- If you have any questions during and/or after the webinar, you are encouraged to type them into the chat window, which will be explained in the first five minutes of the Webinar - so don't be late!
