JIRAK - CELEBRATING 14 YEARS!
History with the
company (AVeL-TECH/Sweet/Ortivus):
I was hired by Dave and Mary Sweet as a sales rep. in 1992. One year
later, I transferred into the Support department and have been here
ever since. I knew almost immediately that Support was the place for
me and I have been fortunate to serve in a variety of positions
including Support dispatcher, Support Technician/Trainer, Group
Leader, Manager of Support Service and since 2004 as the Director.
It seems only yesterday that I walked through the door with first
day jitters - my how 14 years can fly by.
Current position:
Director of Support Services
Most memorable event since you’ve been with the company:
It seems
that my most memorable moments have revolved around changes in the
industry. A2000/Amazon transition, Y2K, HIPAA, Ambulance Fee
Schedule implementation and most recently NEMSIS and testing for
Gold Compliance (way to go team on passing on our first try!!!!).
The challenge always has been, and always will be, to help the customer
make the transition with the least amount of disruption to their
daily activities. There are many months of pre-planning to ensure
that support staff is trained, product is thoroughly tested,
documentation is in place, training agendas modified, website tools
updated, and finally the deployment of the product to the customer.
With the help of customer suggestions, we continue to make this
process more and more efficient.
Most enjoyable part of your job:
The best part of my job is working
with my fellow employees and our diverse customer base. Many of you
have been here as long as I have and can truly appreciate how much
we have progressed over the years.
I have learned that being a good support tech involves a lot of
detective work and knowing how to utilize your resources. As our
tools have evolved, our work has become much easier. Back in the
early 90’s we did not have the luxury of connecting remotely to a
customer’s system. We had to walk the customer through the fix over
the phone, or if a form change or update needed to be applied, it
meant sending out a diskette by mail. When we introduced our first
modem Bulletin Board System, it revolutionized support, taking the
troubleshooting and updating process to a whole new level. Of course
now, that leap forward in technology seems minuscule compared to
today’s high speed internet connections, website download
capabilities, and instant chat with customers.
Other Relevant or Interesting Information:
I feel so fortunate to be
a part of such an innovative and enthusiastic group of individuals.
With the many changes and challenges that have occurred over the
years, there is never a dull moment and that, my friends, is what
brings me back every day.
