Dan Voss, Product ManagerSWEET 5.4 PRODUCT UPDATE
By Dan Voss, Product Manager

More new features are coming to Sweet-Field Data this summer. Version 5.4 of Sweet-Billing and Sweet-Field Data is moving from development into testing, so now it's time to give you a sneak preview of what you will see in Version 5.4.

Many states are moving rapidly to implement data collection systems to collect EMS data for statistical analysis. Sweet-Billing and Sweet-Field Data are well positioned to meet the needs of providers who export to the growing number of systems since we implemented the NEMSIS data elements in version 5.3.0. Now, we are focusing on improving the user's experience in the documentation process to satisfy the general requirement of patient care documentation, as well as the specific requirements of the states.

In Version 5.3.2.1 we introduced Realtime Rules, which provided users of Sweet-Field Data color-coded labels to indicate required fields based on the run type selected. In 5.4, we are introducing an alternate mechanism for documenting the data in the Head-to-Toe and Exam sections of Sweet-Field Data. The new Anatomical View section is designed as a mouse-driven mechanism to document the Head-to-Toe and Exam data.

To support the Head-to-Toe function of the Anatomical View, installation of the upgrade will reconfigure the Body Sites configured for the Head-to-Toe documentation to match the NEMSIS definitions. System administrators can then modify that configuration as desired in Sweet-Billing/Station.

The other major advancement in patient care documentation which is being testing in version 5.4 is the ability to import case summary information from LIFEPAK ® defibrillators/monitors. Last year we announced a licensing agreement with Medtronic Emergency Response Systems allowing us to create this interface. This new module (pending review by Medtronic/Physio-Control) is used to populate vitals and procedures in the patient care report, and attaches a copy of the waveform strip that can be played/printed in both Sweet-Field Data or Sweet-Billing/Station.
