Rich
Winter - EDI Technician
Celebrating 14 Years!
Rich Winter works
as an EDI Technician with Ortivus and has quite
a long history with the company. His years and
experience with the company have certainly been
beneficial in his position; it can be quite an
undertaking in understanding all the issues and
internal complexities of working with
organizations like Medicare and Medicaid as well
as the 50 individual state governing bodies. Ortivus is fortunate to have Rich, who
is as hard-working as they come – perhaps a
trait that stems from his background in farming.
Rich has three sons - ages 8, 11 and 12 - who
are all wonderfully talented in sports and the
arts. He also has a beautiful wife who teaches
first grade. Now, we’ll let Rich tell you more
about himself…
History with the
company (AVeL-Tech/Sweet/Ortivus):
I started with Sweet Computer Services, Inc. in
November of 1991 as part-time employee working
with the Forms Editor in Ambulance 3.0, making
changes to paper forms and statements requested
by our customers. As time progressed, within
the next couple years, I was hired full time as
a Support Technician and still had the
responsibility of form and statement changes,
along with the creation of new paper forms. My
other responsibilities during this time were
doing system builds, selling support contracts,
quality control and building maintenance. In
1998, I was moved to the EDI department were I
still have control over the editing of forms,
statements, run sheets and electronic claims.
Current position:
My job as the EDI Technician is to interpret and
create/change instruction sets to meet the
specifications of the insurance carriers and
state data collection agencies. I also
troubleshoot support issues when called upon.
Most
memorable event since you’ve been with the
company:
In the
14 plus years I have been employed here, there
are so many memorable moments.
I will always remember my first days working at
Sweet Computer Services while trying to farm and
doing a job I had no experience in. I give Dave
Sweet a lot of thanks for having the insight and
confidence in me to do this job.
Most enjoyable
part of your job:
I enjoy the challenge of troubleshooting
problems and the satisfaction of solving them.
After all these years, I still enjoy the
creation and the editing of instruction sets.
Other Relevant of
Interesting Information:
As
noted above, I owned and operated a grain and
livestock farm for 20 years and never had any
experience in the EMS industry. I quit farming in 1996 after realizing that I could not do a
good job farming while holding a full time job.
I miss the farm spring and fall busy time of the
year, but I feel I made the right decision to
stay here at Ortivus.

Sue Cote -
Accounts Payable / Payroll Technician
Welcome Sue!
History with the company (AveL-Tech/Sweet/Ortivus):
I have only been with Ortivus since April
17, 2006. Although this has been a short period
of time, everyone here has made me feel welcome
and part of the Ortivus team.
Current Position:
My current position with Ortivus is Accounts
Payable / Payroll Technician.
Most memorable event since you’ve been with the
company:
I would have to say my most memorable event so
far has been being a part of the month end
procedures. There are new challenges everyday,
which helps to keep my job exciting. So far
there has not been two days the same.
Most enjoyable part of your job:
I would say the most enjoyable part of my job is
working with the friendly people of Ortivus. I
enjoy coming to work and look forward to
learning as much as I can about the workings of
the company.
Other Relevant of Interesting Information:
Before coming to Ortivus, I worked as a
Community Service / Animal Control Officer. I
had to do some dispatching so I understand the
value of having a CAD system. It is great to
work for a company whose goal is to improve the
workplace for the people who protect and serve
us everyday.
