Step 1: Automatic Daily
Billing-Station Backup
The automatic daily
Sweet-Billing/Station backup begins
when the first user logs into the software each day. This backup creates one
of two files each time it runs. These files,
Amazon_A.Amb and
Amazon_B.Amb, are written on the server in the
SQL Server Backup folder.
The exact location of these
files will vary depending on the drive letter to which SQL Server/MSDE is
installed as well as the version of SQL Server/MSDE that is installed on
your server. To determine the location and exact backup file names, access
the Help pull-down and select
About.
The System Info Tab contains a “Current Backup File (Located on Server)”
listing
.
Step 2: User-Established Backup
Procedures
To ensure basic Accounts Receivable
information can be restored, the following MINIMUM backup procedure should
be established: at the very least, the most recent .Amb
file (located in the SQL Server/MSDE Backup folder) should be backed up to
removable media DAILY. With this external file, your database can be
restored with the basic accounts receivable information. However, custom
forms and reports would have to be recreated.
To ensure protection of
customized forms, archived ECM files and other system settings, the
following RECOMMENDED backup procedure should be established: in addition to
backing up the most recent .Amb
file, it is also recommended that you back up the
\Shared\Sweet\Net_Amazon folder that
is on your server to provide an extra level of protection for your
customized forms, archived ECM files and numerous system settings.
Other Backup Tips
-
Do not back up to the same
media every day. Instead, use several tapes in rotation.
-
Periodically, test your
backups to ensure that you can restore data from the media.
-
INCORRECTLY RESTORING DATA
FROM A BACKUP CAN RESULT IN DATA LOSS.
These recommendations are only a
guideline to safeguard Billing/Station data. If you have other applications
and files on the server that you wish to safeguard, you must back them up to
removable media as well.
