officers are Texas or National EMD certified.
We average 5,500 calls per year. We offer MICU
service staffed with at least one critical care
certified or licensed paramedic available for
specialty care transfers and 911 calls.
We have a fleet of 6 ambulances 4 are staffed 24
hours a day and 1 command vehicle.
What makes our service unique?
We
have training program with up to date equipment
and certified instructors that are well
qualified in the area in which they teach. We
host PEPP, PALS, ACLS, PHTLS and Critical care
courses every year. All medics are required to
obtain all certification and keep current in
order to staff an MICU. All employees are
required to attend an EVOC training session
every two years.
Our public relations department host a multitude
of events including bicycle rodeos at the local
elementary schools, safety talks, actively
participates in the “Think Child Safety”
program. We have a robotic ambulance “Andy the
Ambulance” to assist us in teaching children.
Software programs utilized?
We have
used Sweet software A2000 since 1999, upgrading
to Amazon billing in
2000. In 2004, we implemented
Sweet-Field
Data and have integrated it with our billing
program, allowing our billing specialist more
time to concentrate on billing and reducing the
data entry. We converted our dispatch program to
Sweet-CAD
in March of this year. This has completly
automated our service. Reducing the amount of
paperwork and redundant information has made all
our employees workflow easier and better
managed.
Any other information that you would like to
include:
If you are going to change from paper run sheets
and billing do your homework. Education is the
key to anything you do. Look at your service and
see what your specific needs are and look at
other services. Make sure you have buy in from
your staff. They are the people that have to use
the product. Take the implementation one step at
a time and get it right before moving on. Asking
questions of the vendors and other EMS services,
learning from what they did right and wrong, we
followed this method and have had great results.
Our medics, dispatchers, billing staff and
management have made good comments about the
system.
