Press Conference Held in Conjunction with Launch of Tele-Medicine Project; Includes 40 MobiMed Installations

A large number of local dignitaries, reporters from local television stations and the printed press attended a press conference on Monday, June 12th to announce the launch of a pilot Tele-medicine Project in Levis, Quebec. The press conference was held at the Hotel-Dieu de Levis hospital (HDL), one of the principal hospitals in Quebec, which is the receiving hospital in the project. The purpose of the pilot project is to collect both qualitative and quantitative data to analyze the impact of the introduction of MobiMed. In this installation, MobiMed will extend ECG data from the ambulance for display to an attending physician within the emergency room of the hospital via wireless communications.

Ortivus' partner in the project, Bell Mobility, has placed an order for 40 MobiMed systems, which will be installed in ambulances and connected to a workstation at the HDL hospital. The MobiMed software is an emergency decision-support system used for patient monitoring, transmission of data to hospitals and electronic patient recording. The information transmitted from the MobiMed system to the hospital(s) enables physician direction for on-site diagnosis and treatment, which is crucial within the field of cardiac care. The MobiMed system is well-suited for the large geographical size of the Chaudiere-Appalaches region - the coverage area of the HDL hospital.

Telemetrie Chaudiere-Appalaches is an entity formed to manage the Tele-Medicine Project, which is likely to take place over a four-year period.

It is estimated that MobiMed will play a central role in as many as 8,000 transports per year. MobiMed already has a wide usage with approximately 1,100 ambulances in Great Britain and Sweden, as well as additional current installations in Norway and Germany.
