Ortivus Products Successfully Implemented at Halton Regional Police Service

Halton Regional Police Service (H.R.P.S.) successfully implemented the Ortivus Computer-Aided Dispatch system (AVeL-CAD), Automatic Vehicle Location (AVeL-BASE) and the mobile application (AVeL-MobiCAD). The implementation team consisted of members from both Ortivus and H.R.P.S., who customized and developed the systems to meet the specific requirements of the agency. The result "was a product that surpassed the requirements by a significant level" says Warren Page, Manager of H.R.P.S. Technology and Systems Support.

"Throughout the experience, the Ortivus team was outstanding. All members were professional, capable, and competent,” says Warren Page. “The depth of knowledge of both the product and systems implementation, specifically those required by H.R.P.S. was amazing. From the most senior management level through all development and installation resources, the Ortivus team consistently demonstrated a customer orientation. Without the dedication and professionalism demonstrated by all of the Ortivus team, the H.R.P.S. would not have been able to implement a production CAD within the mandated timeframes. The Ortivus product has proven to be the leading edge CAD for emergency services. Their continued development of the product, while maintaining and enhancing the installed base, documents their commitment to the product and their customers. It has been a pleasure to work with Ortivus on this implementation. All members of the Halton team are looking forward to the coming years as the Ortivus relationship matures."

The system is supporting over 850 users at the agency.

H.R.P.S. is based in Oakville, Ontario, Canada and polices the Regional Municipality of Halton which encompasses the City of Burlington and the Towns of Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills. It is located at approximately 30 kilometers from Toronto, Ontario, Canada and is bisected by the Niagara Escapement, which has been recognized as a World Biosphere Reserve by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) because of its special environment and unique environmental plan.

The Halton Region has a population of 427,500, and covers 958 square kilometers including a 25-kilometer frontage onto Lake Ontario. H.R.P.S. handles approximately 100,000 dispatch calls per year and has 550 sworn police officers and 250 civilian members. They have a fleet of 110 marked uniform cruisers.
