Ortivus North America Introduces GoTrack

New technologies continue to bring new possibilities in this age of information. The latest exciting advancement in the EMS and public safety industries offers an economical alternative to the standard “black box” AVL equipment installed in vehicles. Ortivus North America (NA) is pleased to introduce GoTrack, a Java-based program that can be loaded onto select java and GPS-enabled cellular phones.

GoTrack-enabled phones can be assigned to vehicles in an EMS service’s or a public safety agency’s fleet, from which it reports the GPS-derived location of the vehicle back to the station via Sweet-CAD, AVeL-CAD or AVeL-BASE. The Sweet or AVeL component of the system displays the GoTrack-assigned vehicles on a map, where they can be tracked and analyzed for better dispatch decisions.

GoTrack offers an excellent low-cost substitute to conventional fleet management solutions. Rather than expensive, non-portable hardware attached to a vehicle, GoTrack-enabled cellular phones offer an inexpensive 24/7 fleet management solution that can be used to track each vehicle in an operation. The cost of incorporating GoTrack averages around seventy percent less than other standard AVL systems, enabling a service to equip three units with GoTrack AVL functionality for the cost it used to take to equip only one.

The advantages of incorporating an AVL system into EMS/Public Safety organizations have been proven in the industry. Knowledge of each vehicle in a fleet allows for more accurate and up-to-date information, which results in better dispatch decisions. This knowledge also results in quicker response times, as the dispatcher can immediately notify the closest unit to the incident. Better dispatch decisions and quicker response times save lives.

Additional benefits include improved operational efficiency; especially in this era of high fuel costs, dispatching the closest vehicle takes on a whole new importance in realizing maximum operational efficiencies. GoTrack seamlessly integrates with other Ortivus North America products and is conveniently delivered via the internet. GoTrack doesn’t require expensive equipment and installation for each vehicle or investment in a radio network. The costs of equipping the AVL portion of a system with GoTrack may include only the monthly service fee, as many services are already using the Nextel cellular phones.
